Care and Cleaning of Cultured Marble

Routine cleaning with a soft sponge or cloth and a nonabrasive aerosol cleaner is all that is normally needed to give many years of troublefree service to your cultured marble products. We recommend cleaning agents in the form of multi-purpose spray or liquid variety common in the household cleaning section of most stores.

The use of hard abrasives may cause scratching, discoloration and dullness to surface of cultured marble.

To maintain luster and make cleaning easier, periodic applications of paste wax may be applied. Mild abrasives such as automotive polishing compound will remove simple scratches and stains.

Periodic application of a product such as Gel-Gloss can remove small scratches and will also shine and seal the cultured marble surface. Gel-Gloss can be obtained from your local hardware store or Home Depot. Please see www.gel-gloss.com for further information.

Use & Care For Whirlpool Systems

  1. Before initial operation of your new whirlpool system take a few minutes to read instructions on its operation.
  2. Never allow the whirlpool system to run without sufficient water in the tub. The pump is designed to be cooled by the water. Continued operation without water could damage seal or impeller.
  3. Never allow small children in the bathtub without proper supervision.
  4. Don. t place small articles in the bathtub that could possibly enter into the jets or suction area.
  5. If your system is operated by a timer or wall switch, always set timer or switch while out of the bathtub.
  6. If your system is operated by an air switch it can be turned on or off at any time while in the bathtub.
  7. Make sure the eyeballs of all jets are turned in a downward position.
  8. Do not add bubble bath, soaps or oils to the water.
  9. While in the bathtub you may start making necessary adjustments for the most comforting and relaxing bathing experience:
    1. Adjust the eyeballs for the directional flow that most suites you
    2. By adjusting the Air Control(s) you can determine your own air and water mixture. The Air Control closed all the way will eliminate air from your jets. Open your control(s) a slight turn at a time until the suitable massage action is determined.
  10. Be careful not to overdo your stay in the bathtub.

Our liability is limited to repair or replacement of the product at the option of an authorized representative of INTERNATIONAL MARBLE INDUSTRIES, INC. This warranty does not apply to any damage related to installation and/or use of the whirlpool system.

Mold and mildew growth is not a covered item in this warranty. Mold and mildew growth on cultured marble, silicone sealant, and its components is not possible without moisture and a growth source such as soap scum, body oils, and other residue. We recommend that the homeowner rinse the shower area with clean water after taking the shower. A hand-held, detachable shower head can be of great help and are readily available as an add-on item from your plumbing supply store or local hardware store.

Mold and mildew prevention in a moisture producing area is a maintenance issue and must be addressed by the homeowner on a regular basis. Recommended solution is to dry areas thoroughly after use. If mold and mildew growth does occur, it may be removed using a solution of 1/3 bleach and 2/3 water. Wear gloves and eye protection while washing the area, rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. Do not use household cleaning products that contain ammonia. Discolored sealant is caused by mold and mildew being allowed to set for over 24 hours. Discolored sealant is not deemed defective; however, should the sealant pull away from the substrate it may be removed by the homeowner and new sealant reapplied.
